The front yard of Cathy Thomas’ home became a graveyard for her three dogs on Tuesday August 14, 2012 in Loxahatchee, Florida.
Thomas said two Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed her two great Danes and one pit bull. She said the deputies were there serving papers to her friend and when they stepped on the property, her dogs ran forward to greet him.
“They always do that,” Thomas said. “They’re dogs.”
Thomas said her dogs weren’t violent, just curious and a little jumpy.
“And the dogs ran back to greet him or whatever, but I do not believe for one minute that that man was in any kind of danger,” Thomas said.
The three dogs died on her driveway. They were put into black plastic bags and then buried in homemade coffins.
Thomas stated that her dogs have never been in trouble with Animal Care and Control and have never tried to bite anyone.
“It’s become to the point, in my opinion, that the citizens and their animals are nothing but target practice,” she said.
A sheriff’s spokeswoman said the deputies feared for their lives after the dogs charged them, leaving them no choice but to protect themselves, although they could have just as easily chosen to leave the private property they were entering uninvited.
“That’s a little ridiculous for them to go to that extreme and to come on my yard, where I have nothing to do with the situation, and kill three of my dogs,” Thomas said. “That’s where I have a problem.”

Our society continues to awaken to the fact that we need a more sustainable way of life. We are finally recognizing the folly of our fossil fuel consumption, agricultural genetic modification, unsound financial policies, politicians with essentially no term limits, corporate monopolies, gross materialism and so many other practices that are contributing to the demise of our society and our planet. Increasing numbers of citizens are realizing that fundamental change is not only good – it is imperative.
Medical care is another area that people are re-evaluating. Though all of us have benefited from modern medicine in some way, there are limitations. Many of us have watched as friends and family members battling illness were ravaged by chemotherapy, surgical blades and harsh drugs. Other times, we’ve been told by doctors to basically give up hope because they say an illness is “incurable.” This has led to the search for a more holistic way of healing.
The first thing to understand about healing is that only the body can heal itself. The goal of any treatment must be to allow the imbalanced immune system to regain harmony to the degree that it can heal the body. The next thing to realize is that we are more than a physical body. Just as there are frequencies of light outside the visible spectrum, such as infrared and ultraviolet, so are there aspects of our bodies that are outside our perception. The physical body is just one aspect of the energetic body or field that truly defines “life.”
Virtually every ancient culture has a name for this energy field – chi, ki, prana, vitality, od, orgone and electromagnetism are just a few examples. The energy field influences and heals the physical body. So the most effective healing methods utilize this energy directly to restore health, some more efficiently than others. Continue Reading
Is the United States “number one”? Many Americans take deep pride in their nation and the truth is that the U.S. has a lot going for it. The United States has the largest economy in the world. The United States also has the most powerful military on the entire planet. The United States has produced most of the greatest movies that the world has ever seen. But the United States is also number one in a lot of categories that are not go great. If we ever want to turn this country around, we need to be very honest with ourselves. We need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and realize that it is not a good thing that we are number one in divorce, drug addiction, debt, obesity, car thefts, murders and total crimes. We have become a slothful, greedy, decadent nation that is exhibiting signs of advanced decay. Until we understand just how bad our problems really are, we won’t be able to come up with the solutions that we need.
A lot of people that write articles like this have a deep hatred for America. But that is not the case with me. I love the United States. I love the American people. America is like an aging, bloated rock star that has become addicted to a dozen different drugs. America is a shadow of its former self and it desperately needs to wake up before it plunges into oblivion. Continue Reading
Obama administration officials are putting together a team of ‘mystery shoppers’ to pose as patients, call doctors’ offices and request appointments to see how difficult it is for people to get care when they need it.
The move follows increasing alarm over the shortage of primary care doctors.
The administration says the survey will address the shortage and try to discover whether doctors are accepting patients with private insurance while turning away those in government health programmes that pay lower reimbursement rates. Continue Reading

Fluoride:
“The prolonged ingestion of fluoride may cause significant damage to health and particularly to the nervous system,” concludes a review of studies by researchers Valdez-Jimenez, et al. published in Neurologia (June 2011), reports New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. (NYSCOF).
The research team reports, “It is important to be aware of this serious problem and avoid the use of toothpaste and items that contain fluoride, particularly in children as they are more susceptible to the toxic effects of fluoride.” (1) Continue Reading
