In a war, it appears that it’s easy to become just as bad as the monsters that you are fighting.
Just ask the survivors of a killing spree in Afghanistan last March, when US soldiers went on a rampage, killing 17 civilians, 9 of them children. Only one soldier, Army Staff Sgt Robert Bales, was charged but the witnesses have a different story:
One mother-of-six, whose husband was killed during the incident, believes there were as many as 20 people involved.
She told SBS Dateline journalist Yalda Hakim: ‘When they shot dead my husband, I tried to drag him into the house, they’d shot him in the head so his brain was all over my hands. I had to use a bowl for his blood.
‘I saw more than 20 people when I looked out the house. The Americans pointed their guns at me and threatened me, telling me not to leave the house or they’d kill me.’
Another witness, an eight-year-old girl called Noorbinak, said a gunman shot her family’s dog before shooting her father in the foot and dragging her mother by the hair. When her father screamed, he was shot dead, before the gunman shot Noorbinak in the leg.
She said: ‘One man entered the room and the others were standing in the yard, holding lights.’
The brother of another victim claimed that his nephews and nieces saw numerous soldiers involved in the assault, all wearing headlamps and with lights strapped to the ends of their guns.
He said: ‘They don’t know whether there were 15 or 20, however many there were.’ (Source) Continue Reading
(NaturalNews) An overwhelming majority of Americans believe the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has a legal responsibility to require proper labeling of foods containing genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). But to this day, the FDA refuses to comply with the demands of the American people, who it is supposed to represent, or with the law, which is why your help is needed to force this rogue agency to finally step up and do the right thing.
Based on a number of different polls conducted, anywhere between 90 and 95 percent of people living in the U.S. want GMOs to be labeled. According to the new GMO labeling campaign Just Label It!, 92 percent of Americans want to know whether or not the foods they buy contain GMOs, especially when these foods are being fed to young children.
“While our reasons for wanting to know what’s in our food may vary, what unifies us is the belief that it’s our right,” says the Just Label It! campaign about mandatory GMO labeling. “Without labeling of GE (genetically engineered) foods, we cannot make informed choices about our food.” Continue Reading
According to Kevin Maher, a US diplomat and the former director of the Japan Desk at the US State Department in Japan, the US government considered evacuating all 90,000 US citizens in Tokyo right after the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant accident.
From Yomiuri Shinbun (10:30PM JST 8/17/2011):
The US government was considering the plan to evacuate all 90,000 US citizens living in Tokyo right after the Fukushima I Nuclear power Plant accident, according to a new book.
The book, which is to be published on August 17, is titled “決断できない日本 (Japan that cannot decide)” (Bunshun Shinsho) and was written by Kevin Maher, former Japan Desk director at the US State Department. If the plan to evacuate 90,000 Americans had been carried out, it could have triggered reactions from other foreign governments, and caused panic among the Japanese.
Maher’s book recounts the inside information that Maher obtained as he was part of the special task force within the State Department right after the March 11 disaster, communicating with the Japanese side. Continue Reading

The US Dollar has been working toward this day for 98 years. And as this is being written the overreach of the Money-Changers is approaching their final hours. Everything supposedly at risk here in the great standoff between the stand-in president and the criminal congress could easily be settled if the public would simply begin to chant these two simple words:
“PROVE IT!”
Or as one reader said yesterday: “I’ve read VERY little concerning the recent lies of Obama and company on the SS and debt ceiling, because what I DID read was obvious enough: they’re lying and rather badly. What I read was filled with “we don’t know” and “might not be able to” and “we’re not sure”. REALLY. How is possible that the highest officers in the land DON’T KNOW THE FACTS? The tiny article linked-to above gives us enough info to prove the “official” statements are bold-faced lies. I WANT THESE CRIMINALS JAILED FOR LIFE, STARTING YESTERDAY!” (1)
This supposedly final chance to deal with the national-debt-ceiling is nothing more than another threat from the Money-Changers in their temple that was built on greed and money. Continue Reading
Despite the presence of former State Department official Wright and former CIA officer Ray McGovern, the US government has largely bowed to Israeli pressure over the flotilla. Issuing a rare maritime warning this week to American vessels traveling near Gaza, Washington has effectively distanced itself from offering protection to its citizens if they are attacked by Israel on the open sea. The import of the message is, “We warned you not to go.”
Back in 1941, there was this foreign nation, Japan, which was illegally occupying other peoples’ lands in China and Indonesia.
There were Americans in close proximity to that foreign nation, in the then-territory of Hawaii, and even though the Americans had not actually done much of anything, that foreign nation decided it had the right to attack and kill Americans just on the off chance that somewhere down the road, they might be in inconvenience.
Thus came about the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Now, just for a moment imagine that instead of declaring immediate war on those who attacked Americans, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had rushed over to the League of Nations to explain why Japan’s attack on Americans was really no big deal, and that Japan had good reason to attack and kill Americans! Imagine if Roosevelt, instead of the “Day of Infamy” speech, had made countless excuses why Japan was perfectly right to attack and kill Americans. Imagine that the US Congress, instead of voting war against the nation that attacked Americans decided to punish those who criticized the nation that attacked Americans? Continue Reading
Just as Americans — or at least the American media — seem to have come to a wary peace with nudie-X-Ray screenings and junk-touching pat-downs in the airport security line, the always-inventive federal agents who safeguard our skies are finding new ways to enrage flyers.
In one high-profile case that forced Detroit’s airport to retrain its entire attachment of TSA screeners, an overzealous agent took away a cherished toy plastic hammerfrom a young man with the mental capacity of a toddler.
Mandy, 29, and his family were on their way to Disney World and going through security at the Detroit airport when they encountered the anti-hammer TSA agents, who pulled him aside for a pat-down. According to Dr. David Mandy, Drew’s dad, Drew had trouble following some of the agents’ instructions. When Dr. Mandy tried to tell the TSA agents that his son couldn’t understand what they were asking him to do, an agent allegedly told him, “Please, sir, we know what we’re doing.” Continue Reading

According to a June 8th CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll, 48 percent of Americans believe that another Great Depression is likely to occur in the next year – the highest that figure has ever reached. The survey also indicates that just under half of the respondents live in a household where someone has lost a job or is worried that unemployment may hit them in the near future.
Suddenly, after years of obvious economic hardship experienced by tens of millions of Americans – only when the suffering and pain can no longer be cloaked in abstractions and cooked statistics – does an emboldened media dare utter the forbidden “D” word.
For Trends Journal readers, alerted to this emerging trend some three years ago, the prospect of Depression should come as no surprise. Neither should the idea that, when it hits and can no longer be denied, a long suffering public will take to the streets. Continue Reading
The deal with the Weiner story, is to take the attention off other things happening that “they” don’t want the public to know. Coincidence that the Bilderberg conference is happening right about the same time as the Weiner scandal? Let’s keep everyone focused on Weiner and away from what really goes on in those Bilderberg meetings….
If one is to judge by the tone of the television commentators, America must be deep in a crisis. Long stretches of cable time are devoted to the breaking news. Each detail is presented as more grave and consequential for the republic than the last. The fate of the country surely hangs in the balance.
What is it? War? Fiscal crisis? Mass unemployment? A double-dip recession?
No. A congressman was caught sending lewd photographs of himself to women over the Internet. Continue Reading

A small town in Alabama, which has stopped paying its retirees’ pensions, could be an early casualty in a coming pension disaster, the New York Timesreports.
As public pension funds across the nation suffer from years of underfunding, and from assets that lost value in the financial crisis, experts say that days of reckoning are fast approaching. In Prichard, Alabama, that day came last year: When the fund ran out of money, the city stopped paying retirees, the NYT reports. Retirees have sued, but to little avail. The money simply does not exist.
Without pension checks, 11 retirees have died, according to the NYT. Others have declared personal bankruptcy. The rest of the 150 retired workers are struggling to get by.
After years of procrastination, governments across the nation are beginning to be crushed under the enormity of their pension promises. State lawsrequire that retirees be paid — Prichard is breaking the law — but there are fewer legal requirements that governments actually put the money behind their promises. In the years leading up to the financial crisis, many cities delayed funding their pensions, as assets were seeing high returns and governments expected good times to last. Continue Reading
The disappearance of the middle class will not be televised. Don’t expect your favorite talking head to relay this information to you. At the core of our economy we have become a consumption nation. This necessarily isn’t negative if we were to balance out the opposite side of the equation with adequate savings. It would be one thing if the working and middle class were consuming with money that they had earned. Instead for over adecade many Americans have used massive amounts of debt in mortgages, credit cards, and student loans to finance things they simply could not afford. Unfortunately this game is up and many are now feeling the financial pangs of a country where the working and middle class are marginalized and government policy is geared to exaggerating the inequality especially in the financial sector. Recent data shows that of current retirees, 60 percent have $49,999 or less saved up in retirement plans. This coincides with other data showing that the average per capita worker makes $25,000. You have those that can save and those that will rely purely on Social Security when they retire.
ATLANTA – Vaccine makers said this month they plan to make a record amount of flu vaccine for this fall and winter — enough for more than half the population. It’s just not clear all those people will need it.
This year’s flu shot will be a duplicate of last year’s because the same flu strains are still circulating. So some experts say young, healthy people may have enough protection from last season’s vaccine to skip getting it again this fall.
“For healthy people, it can’t be said to be necessary,” said Dr. Robert Couch, a flu vaccine expert at the Baylor College of Medicine. Continue Reading
